Okay, so you may not have the budget to get a whole new wardrobe every season, but that doesn’t mean you have to settle for recycling the same old looks from last year.
Because you’re obviously super stylish, you like to stay current by being knowledgeable about the latest designer trends, and incorporating them into your own style aesthetic. The best way to do that is to infuse your wardrobe with a few choice accessories that can add new life to the classic pieces you already own. As you head out on your fall wardrobe hunt this fall, keep your eyes peeled for these FW15 accessories pulled right from this year’s runways.
Lug Sole Boots
Boots with thick, industrial rubber soles were all the rage in the 90s, and they’re all the rage again. Chunky, skater girl style boots were seen with everything from ladylike dresses to rugged jeans on the runways of Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga and more. The good news is that this trend is not just stylish, but practical as we inch towards the months of frightful weather conditions.
Many of the most high-profile designers showed collections that featured lots of fringe-ified accessories. There were your classic boho chic purses with long leather fringe, but there were also bold earrings with oversized tassels at Lanvin, and fringed pulls on handbags at Altuzarra. There’s really no wrong way to fringe out, so feel free to go big with this fun trend.
The word, “brooch” may conjure up images of dowdy grannies, but rest assured that that a shiny or sparkly bauble placed in the right spot will look positively in-trend and uber-cool. Pin something pretty to a blouse, jacket, or dress for a classic look, or take a hint from Chanel and Prada with a brooch strategically tucked into an elegant updo for a unique take on the trend.
Reminiscent of cute, little suitcases, one new trend from designers like Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen is the boxy, handled handbag. There’s definitely a classic preppy feel to the structure and shape of these bags, so they’re perfect to pair with your sophisticated take on the classic schoolgirl look.
The biggest trend in heels this season is chunky block heels on ladylike loafer styles. It’s important to note that the look isn’t sky high – most models walked securely down Calvin Klein and Maison Margiela runways in heels that weren’t above 2 inches, so you don’t have to sacrifice all your comfort for style this fall.
When it comes to autumn earrings, the bigger the better. Statement-making looks in shows from Christian Dior and Marchesa included pieces that were so long that they brushed the tops of shoulders. 80s inspired styles that featured mismatched earrings or a bold earring in just one ear were also prevalent.
There’s no doubt that the 90s are back in a serious way in current fashion trends. There’s nothing more 90s than channeling grunge-era rock stars with a bit of plaid. Pieces from the collections of Coach and Adam Lippes X Target have a noticeable presence of red tartan print accessories.
One of the best ways to carry your favorite summer dresses right on into fall is by throwing them over cool tights. Designers like Proenza Schouler and Saint Laurent obviously agree – they and many others showed a wide variety of tights styles in everything from classic fishnet, purposely distressed, and bold prints and patterns that pull the spotlight down to your lovely legs.
Once again, fall is officially upon us, so it’s time to shake up your style. Start by experimenting with a few of these fun and fabulous FW15 accessories, which will help you carry your wardrobe into the current season.
