We’re half way through December, and it’s freezing. I’m sleeping under three blankets every night, opting for a sad-desk lunch at work instead of going out, and changing into sweatshirts and slippers as soon as I get home. Basically, I’m doing what I can to get through the cold, and part of that process (luckily) includes busting out my winter accessories.
Living in the Midwest means that a legit coat/jacket is a MUST come December. But things like hats, gloves, scarves, and the like are also mainstays for a winter wardrobe. In fact, they’re so crucial that I have a whole drawer dedicated to them. Overkill? Perhaps. But I like options, and you can never have enough when it comes to staying warm.
On the runway this season, accessories that stood out included fuzzy hats at Marc Jacobs, oversized scarves at Celine, and sparkly boots at Saint Laurent. Considering that, as well as the favorite pieces I revert to year after year, here’s a roundup of winter accessories to add to your closet this season.
Faux Fur Headwear
I’m a sucker for a good faux fur pice (see the pic. above for proof). A faux fur headband or hat is the best of practicality meets style. They’re warm, fashionable, and just the right amount of “extra.”
When tech and style combine, amazing things can happen. Plus, it’s 2018, and I will not settle for glove that don’t allow me to fully access my phone. Luckily, since their debut, touch-screen gloves have evolved and super fashionable options, like poppy red and printed wool, are now available.
I wear these religiously come the first snow fall. While a blanket scarf can totally be an outside-only accessory, if you get the right kind then you can transition it into your inside wardrobe as well. Case in point? When my boss books the uber-cold conference room for our weekly meeting, I’m bound to have one of these wrapped around my torso.
