My name is Emma Klug, and I founded The Style Note in 2012. I graduated from Columbia College Chicago three years ago with a bachelor’s degree in multimedia journalism (concentration in magazine writing and editing) and a fashion business minor. Since then, I’ve moved back to my hometown of metro Detroit and, after working an editorial internship and a couple business journalism positions, I am now an associate editor at a local city magazine.
Despite the lack of color in my wardrobe, I’ve always loved fashion, art, and beauty. I’ve been fortunate enough to have the chance to work on a variety of projects in my career so far that reflect these interests. My portfolio includes profiles on local fashion bloggers and designers, columns about clothing exhibits and innovative fashion shows, and Q&A’s with fashion industry insiders. I’ve also had to the chance to dabble in social media content creation, styling and pulling product for shoots, photographing events, and shooting video.
My work has been featured in Hour Detroit magazine, DBusiness magazine, The Working Wardrobe, The Chicago Sun-Times, Nothing Major, and more. You can view my full portfolio and resume at emmaklug.com.
When I’m not writing, editing, and planning pieces for The Style Note, I’m probably working my day job; chasing new story ideas; failing to get up early and workout before going to the office; binge-watching Monday Night Raw, The Bachelor/ette, or The Real Housewives of (fill in the blank) ; or obsessing over designer clothing I can’t afford.
